For twenty years my job was to say in writing what a system would do under load, before it did it. Now I write forecasts about one ask between two people, and publish whether they held.
The Single Issue: a written second opinion on one working relationship.
You have asked for the same thing several times, and the response has been the same each time. That is the single issue: one ask, and the response it keeps getting. The brief ends in one change to how you ask and a dated forecast that you grade. $2,000 flat, paid only after your case is accepted, and most are not.
I came to this late. Partway through my career I held a senior role among people who were far better at reading a room than I was. I thought I was a good read of people. More than once I was blindsided by a response I had been sure of, from someone I had worked with for years. The read had been right once. What had changed was the situation around the person, and I had written nothing down that could have shown me that. So I started writing down what I expected someone to do, with a date, before I asked. I learned most from the ones I got wrong. The process has not changed.
Physics and electrical engineering degrees. An MSc in Information Assurance. Twenty years in IT consulting, a decade of it in classified government networks. I assessed the performance and security of systems, networks, and protocols. Each assessment predicted behavior under load or under failure, and someone had to act on what I wrote.
Forecasting a network and forecasting a request between two people are different problems. What carries over is the discipline: state what will happen, with a date and a count, and publish whether it did.
One person. No staff, no associates.
I decline most cases before any payment, on arithmetic you can check.
I never contact the other person, and nothing reaches them through me.
There is no track record yet. The record starts at zero, and the misses go on it.
